Apprentice Horticulturalist, Brae Restaurant, Birregurra, VIC
THE ROLE
Brae is a contemporary restaurant and guest suites set on a working organic farm, 2km from the township of Birregurra, Victoria.
Brae’s 20-acre regenerative agriculture project is a place for visitors to be immersed in nature and eat from the land. The farm is managed using organic and biodynamic principles to produce vegetables, orchard fruits, citrus, nuts, berries, honey and grain crops for use in the restaurant. Olives are pressed for olive oil, our own organic wheat grain is milled on site daily for bread, used to produce an organic wheat beer and to make other beverages. The property and its food production are designed for guests to explore, with walking paths and signage reconnecting visitors to their food and the place it comes from.
The small garden team is led by head gardener, Jodie Lawson. We are currently looking for an Apprentice Horticulturalist to join the team in spring, 2025.
The right person:
Fit, energetic and able to do heavy lifting.
Some experience with gardening, preferably including organic vegetable production.
Preferably experienced using farm and gardening equipment such as mower, tractor etc.
Interest in organics and biodynamics.
Willing to formalise their qualifications with an apprenticeship program.
Flexibility to work to suit weather and the season throughout the year.
Above Award rates apply - above adult gardener award wage rates, rather than apprentice rates.
