Wow; what an epic year was 2021 and 2022 is well on the way! A massive welcome to all our new members that have joined the Young Farmers Connect movement: and also to our supporters, partners, volunteers and team. A huge thank you for all your support. We are so much more than a ‘young farmers club’ and are continuing to grow, build and strengthen our engagement across Australia’s local food system delivering a heap of programs, projects, workshops, research, advocacy and networking and we look forward to having you all involved. Last year we delivered a raft of programs and field days and despite covid19 managed to offer 16 field days across 7 of our YFC chapters to over 500 young farmers, members and supporters. This year we aim to radically increase our offering and distribution and have been fortunate to gain new contracts to deliver services in NSW in partnership with the Young Farmer Business program and Drought Hub. Will be creating new opportunities in the other states with support from local stakeholders and sponsorships. In 2021 YFC nearly doubled its membership base, online engagement and website traffic, demonstrating a growing need and demand for our services and support. We are proud to have published our first annual magazine/book The Changing Face of Farming which has been a huge success. We hope this magazine excites and ignites, challenge traditional ideas of women in agriculture, celebrates the work of women who have led the way and gives voice to those who are emerging as the new faces of farming and food systems.

Young Farmers Connect is thrilled to invite you very special International Women's Day event as we join the international movement and conversation about gender equality and a world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination for female farmers. We will take a deep dive into diversity through the lived experience of 4 amazing female farmers: Tanya Massy, Thanisa Adams, Oliva Awaritefe and Kate McBride; enriched with the published expertise of Dr Lucie Newsome and woven by our fellow change-maker and cherished storyteller Maree Lowes. This years IWD2022 campaign theme is #BreakTheBias We will be exploring through conversation and interactive activities how we can imagine a gender-equal world for our female farmers and follow the core discussion points of this years IWD events : A world that is free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

Its been a long while since we have renewed our membership service and we are now able to cater for annual subscriptions. Join Young Farmers Connect (YFC) - Greater Sydney field day on the NSW Central Coast. This will be an interactive morning with heaps of opportunities to share and learn with Alison and Michael from ALAN Foods at Jilliby, and the other attendees. ALAN Foods is a small permaculture market garden that produces food that is All Local, All Natural. They grow everything they sell and aim to provide their local community with access to fresh, nutritious food.
